Introduction

The D.K. Foundation is a teaching organisation which exists to upgrade both contemporary astrological practice and the value of astrology to spiritual seekers.

Its aim in the longer term is to make a contribution to the development in the West of a more authentic spiritual language. This will require us to deal with Western man as he is now, with the strengths and defficiencies which the past fifty years have developed within him, rather than see him through the filter of traditional Eastern spiritual concepts.

The D.K. Foundation exists to encourage work on self and also with self i.e. with the opportunities which are available to each of us and are of our essence. Through its astrological work it encourages an approach to life , and not an excessive concentration upon events and form. The astrological readings given by The D.K. Foundation are designed to identify the developmental requirement - or purpose - of the personality and thereby establish criteria for intelligent choice, and a beneficial use of time and opportunity.

The D.K. Foundation is in the Occult tradition and is rooted in the works of its benefactor, the Master Djwhal Khul. By means of the Law of Correspondance the cosmic principles which Djwhal Khul elucidated earlier in the twentieth century, through the channel of Alice Bailey, have been made applicable to the level of the personality.

The series of books channelled by D.K. to Alice Bailey (published by the Lucis Trust) remain unsurpassed in their comprehensiveness. These books, an occult education in themselves, were released to the generation which under, the protection of the sign Libra, had the task of reconstructing the post war world. We, the children and grandchildren of that generation, face a new millenium, new responsibilities, new dangers, and new opportunities. D.K. himself is encouraging us to move on into the possiblities opened up by their achievements and by the assimilation of the wisdom of the New Age Movement, of which the Bailey books are the centre piece but not the last word.

The D.K. Foundation acknowledges the tremendous contribution made by more recent New Age ideas in the breaking up of the insistent materialism of the latter part of the twentieth century and the rekindling of both spiritual awareness and hope. It is itself, however, entirely opposed to a 'with-a-wish-and-a-prayer' approach to life, not because it does not acknowledge the value of aspiration or the efficacy of prayer but because its aim is to encourage the assumption of a greater responsibility for self.

Discipline and effort - and a great deal of both - are required if the promise contained within New Age ideas is to be realized. There is a saying in the Sufi Tradition: 'Allah will provide but tether thy camel first'. This can be taken to mean, amongst other things, don't bother spirit when human effort can yet achieve results.

Our greatest resources are time and the capacity to make conscious choice. In these two can be found the key which unlocks fate and enables the development of spiritual will.
